Today i drove to birmingham to complete a Walsall double header .. first of all i drove to Ray Hall Lane for-
Walsall Youth 0 Wigan Athletic Yth 0
A poor game with a lack of shots , quality and distribution. I arrived at the ground and it was sunny but cold , as i arrived Dean Smith the Walsall manager pulled up in a silver saloon and shouted to someone, i wouldn’t of expected to see him here. The game itself was a very defensive affair , but soon the sun turned to grey clouds and heavy rain set in and killed it even more as a contest.
It wasn’t the worst game ive seen but certainly seen better, Walsall played in the red kit and wigan in a dark blue. Not much else to say really on it as it won’t live long in the memory , Walsall were perhaps the better side but not by much.
Walsall 0 MK Dons 2
A better game than earlier in the day, i parked in the retail park next door and sat in the Tile choice stand. The game was of a low standard till the game was tipped on its head when Walsall keeper Jimmy Walker was dramaticly sent off for handling outside the area, i have not yet seen the highlights so i cannot confirm this although from where i was sitting i didn’t think he did. Beevers was then taken from defence and put in goal. From the resulting free kick MK scored via a fine finish into the top corner.
Just before half time MK scored again but this time it was a tap in . Walsall hit the post twice but failed to capitalise on the chances they had. At full time though they were applauded by the fans , i went with my friend to this and he stated that it was a dire game i saw it abit different in that is was a hard fought affair but there was only going to be one winner once the dons had shut up shop.
