Today I visited Oak park ,home of Mid comb soon to be champions Walsall Wood as they put together a side to play the “Baggies” Allstars side.
Now on arrival I was really disappointed to see there was no programme or teamsheet , plus the advertised £4 shot up to £5. This was advertised as a family fun day with bouncy castles etc , In the time I was there I did not see one, just the building site that has not changed since my last visit in October.
The game kicked off at 1.57pm with just 35 minutes a half , and it was Wood who had the better of the opening stages but fell behind on the half hour mark when a player did very well to keep the ball in on the by line , dragged the ball back across for a team mate to roll the ball home.
At half time I sat in the stand which was deserted while listening to the Liverpool v Everton game on my phone. Both sides were very wasteful with there chances with not many knowing how to shoot properly . West Brom had a chance to go 2 up from a penalty but put a poor penalty wide.
Albion went 2 up in comical circumstances when Wood’s substitute buried the ball into his own net after the keeper had saved the ball from a attack but spilled the ball.
