This top of the table clash between the two early pace setters of the Midland Combination Division 2 was a entertaining one, played at Church Rd home of Boldmere St Michaels.
I arrived just before the 7.30 kick off, to find the place nearly deserted.I was relieved of the £2 admission, Paget in their amber strip and their Evesham based opponents in the red and black kit.
The only time I have seen Paget Rangers play was in their first ever game at Archdales in Worcester. They have made the move from Birmingham AFA to the Mid Comb.
The game itself was end to end but there was a decisive quality about Badsey that Paget lacked. Badsey came out of the blocks much faster and took the lead on 5 minutes, a scuffed shot was blocked but the loose ball was swept home sending the decent number of travelling supporters into a ovation.
Both sides were physical, but Paget much more so as they struggled to cope with Badseys speed and agility.Paget held them off to make it to hslf time at 1-0.
Badsey made it 2-0 breaking the offside trap and sending a low shot across the keeper that bounced off the post and the loose ball was stroked home. Paget wasted a glorious chance , a player skilling out 4 players before flashing the ball wide. They did however score moments from the end from a corner , heading home at the death.
