Game 55 – CPA FC 4 Smithswood Colts 1 29/3/2014

Another day on the cheap today meant that I once again explored the Birmingham AFA, doubling up with staying extremely local , I spotted this fixture in the AFA Premier league. This result came as a shock as league leaders Smithswood were made to look rather ordinary after a great first half display by CPA.

This game took place at the Aston Uni set up , next door to West Bromwich Albion’s training ground. I arrived to find the car park full, but after finding somewhere to park found the game a few minutes in. The pitch looked quite dusty and especially threadbare in the centre as my picture shows. on the pitch behind Doncaster Rovers deaf side were playing a game against somebody. CPA in seventh place (which I am not sure what it stands for) took to the field in a blue strip while Colts in red.
Colts opened the scoring on 12 minutes with CPA struggling to withstand early pressure and there player controlled the ball on the left side of the box before volleying the ball into the far corner. On 28 minutes, CPA equalized with a long goal kick, which was back headed into the path of the striker who slid the ball past the on rushing keeper.
CPA stunned the league leaders on 41 minutes from a fierce free kick , that the keeper chested into the air but the loose ball was headed in.
On the stroke of half time, CPA scored by cutting in on the right before shooting across the keeper into the far corner.

The second half was a quieter affair , but was for the majority, all Colts who were left chasing the game but were hot with a fourth with a cross from the left being bundled home.
A few wayward shots were all that Colts could muster, but they did hit the bar late on. With how money is at the moment there could be some more Birmingham AFA games to come in the coming weeks.

Admission- Free Attendance – 10 h/c Match Rating- 4/10
