After doing just the one game yesterday , I decided to get a second game in by watching some local Sunday league football. The game I chose was the all Polish side FC Gold Paw Vs Great Barr Lions. This was the debut game for both sides in the Senior Amateur League and took place at Aldridge Rd Recreation field that backs onto Great Barr school in Birmingham. I arrived to find to games on at the bottom of the field, the first side I saw warming up gave me some bad vibes so I decided to chance my arm with Gold Paw. The game kicked off just after 10.30, Gold Paw in the orange and Lions in a fluorescent strip. This was a game of two halves , Gold Paw looked very good in the first half and attacked from the off. The Lions looked very poor in the first half , with the inability to run with the ball , pass a ball , close men down and found their feet as the game went on. they were under the cosh from the off. The Poles took the lead on 15 minutes , after a disastrous clearance by the Lions keeper the ball landed straight to a Gold Paw player who rifled the ball into the bottom corner.
In the second half , the game turned on its head as Gold Paw went into their shells and allowed the Lions to dictate the game. FC Gold Paw had their keeper to thank for some really acrobatic saves to keeper his side in the game including a great acrobatic save that he tipped over the bar. Great Barr managed to equalize from a pass from the left the ball was finished from around 12 yards. Gold Paw failed to capitalize on any of their chances by dragging all their chances wide, Great Barr took the lead , when a player rode through a challenge before stroking the ball low.
