I had intended to go to Chasetown today but after resident leach Eggyhopper turned up with no money again and with the begging bowl out, we ended up here and my first chance to see the Phoenix club Hereford since their reform. On arrival , the ground was very busy and Boldmere were taking crowd control very seriously. I managed to get in though and found the usual sparse ground was rammed to near the rafters with Hereford supporters , a lot of them sporting red hats.
The game itself went true to form though with Hereford well on top in their red and black strip .Hereford showed their intentions after just 30 seconds rolling a ball across the front of goal. Boldmere were limited from shots from 30 yards, one almost beating the keeper but dropped on to the top of the net. Hereford’s main threat came from Sol Wheatley who was a thorn in Boldmere’s side before going off injured.
It took until the second half though for Hereford to turn on the style though. A free kick was awarded on the right wing , the ball was played in and John Mills headed home. Hereford made it 2-0, from a free kick.
This time the free kick was dreadful and easily blocked, but the loose ball was picked up by Birch who fired through the crowd with a superb strike. Finally Mills added the third buy slipping into the box and firing under the keeper.
