Rushall claimed all 3 points in a two minute spell against a hard working Frickley side this afternoon. Today, I ventured to West Yorkshire to see this mid table Evo Stik tie on the Rushall Supporters coach. This was the first time I had been on the supporters coach and found it to be excellent value and with decent banter thrown in to made it a good day. I took my dad on this trip for the first time in a long day.
We arrived in South Elmsall for about 1.15 , so had a walk into the town but there was very little there except for a few polish shops and charity shops. The ground itself boasts a decent stand and sits at the bottom of a old slag heap which has been flattened out. The covered standing opposite the stand has seen better days in truth with sections of the roof missing.
The admission to the game was £9 with a programme at £2. A number of game s had been called off today but this game had somehow survived , but the saturated pitch held up quite well. The first half was a very even affair and I was quite impressed with Frickley’s huff and puff but had no attacking product to finish their moves. Rushall were slow out of the blocks and made errors early on. Josh McKenzie’s low drive was easily stopped early on. The drizzle became quite heavy then and made conditions difficult, which the referee began to find difficult. There was a minutes delay as Frickley adjudged their player had been taken out but no action was taken despite Frickley’ bench being incensed.
Rushall took the lead on 41 minutes though , squeezing the ball in from a low shot , that squeezed in at the near post past Malkowski. Just one minute later , Rushall doubled their lead when Alex Reid cut in from the left side of the box and driving the ball into the far corner. The second half was a poorer affair though with very little incident , Rushall swinging a shot high and wide was about as good as it got.
