Game 9 – Stapenhill 3 Mickleover RBL 1 30/7/2016

Today I headed to Derbyshire for this friendly clash between East Counties League Stapenhill and Mickleover. The Edge Hill football ground is a nice if slightly delapidated facility sadly the stand looks like the vandals have had a go at thr stand and some more recent covered standing by the entrance to the ground. There is also a bowling club behind one of the goals.

I remember reading Stapenhill’s results in the old Sports Argus years ago but never quite got round to seeing them until today. If was worth a visit though as the ‘crowd’ of 20 were treated to a decent game. RBL of the Central Midlands League took to the field in a Borussia Dortmund strip with the yellow and black strip.

RBL took an early lead on 9 minutes , having an attempt on goal but shouts of handball were called the Stapenhill players seemed confused but an RBL player stabbed the ball home.

The scored was level 5 minutes later, Hart racing down the right before drilling a low ball into the net. Stapenhill then hit the bar from Hart’s free kick. Callum Mcbride put Stapenhill ahead On 34 minutes , a corner was played in and the keeper spilled the ball , Mcbride hooked the ball over his shoulder .

The second half was a quieter affair but Stapenhill always looked more threatening and always through Hart . Sadly there was only to be one more piece of goalmouth action and that was from a penalty after Hart took a tumble. Hart duly stepped up and put it down the left of the goal.

Admission – £2  Attendance – 20h/c  carling- £3
