Yesterday I went to this goalfest in the West Midland Christian League Division 2. Played at Streetly Community Centre both sides were unbeaten so far and St Thomas were in the blue and yellow with St Andrews in the West Bromwich Albion kit.
Amazingly this game was 1 1 at half time with STA taking a lead on 3 mins shooting low into the far corner. SAN equalized on 34 minutes , ghosting in to head home.
Then came a stunning second half that inclued 10 goals. Straight from kick of Netherton papped in from a right wing cross. It was 3 1 when a defensive blunder was pounced upon and slipped under the keeper. It was 3 2 when STA struck s central shot high into the net.Netherton made it 4 2 with a strike from edge of the box. Then it was 5 2, from another low cross the ball was slipped in.
Another defensive blunder created Nethertons sixth before they had a penalty for goal number 7 . I could barely keep up to write the goals . It was the eight , with a well worked move from the wing to shoot into the far bottom corner. Aldridge then finally scored a goal with a snap shot into the bottom corner. Nethertons keeper then saw the red card for abusing the referee (I think). Aldridge got the final goal of a crazy encounter with a header after a cross from the left. An amazing encounter of maybe how not to play real football but entertaining.
