With nothing riding on this fixture and things winding down, I took in this leisurely fixture in rural Leicestershire. Blaby are in the top half of the East Midlands Counties League while Borrowash are in mid table.
Blaby play at the Warwick Road Ground in Whetstone and borders a local park , I believe called the Dicken. It’s a fairly basic set up , it does have a nice clubhouse, there is a small seated stand as well as some covered standing.
The game was OK in truth, but despite the goals rarely got our pulses racing although Blaby did show some grit to win from behind. Victoria in the red and white took the lead on 5 minutes through Celson Patriciano scoring in the bottom left from outside the box. They took a shock 2-0 lead through Daniel Rowley’s scuffed half volley.
Blaby worked hard to get back into it and got themselves a goal shooting bottom left of goal. They made it 2-0 shooting into the far corner.
Blaby took the lead though, cutting in from the left , laying the ball off for a easy tap in. I suppose you could say they left there beat till last, from dome shocking defending Blaby pinged the ball from the left wing straight to a grateful Blaby player who drIlley the ball low into the bottom of the net from 18 yards.
