Game 11 – Brockworth Albion 2 Bishops Cleeve 2 15/7/2017

I teamed up with Leighavfc after to head to out 3rd visit to the west in a week and a certainly clocking up some miles. We were tempted by Moreton Rangers before clocking this fixture at the last minute. We didn’t know anything about Brockworth or even where it was except that it was near Gloucester.

It so happened, Brockworth is near Longlevens where we visited last week. It’s a small little place housing a few shops a bank etc . Brockworth play at Mill Lane in Brockworth,  although basic and effectively a playing field, it did have a charm about and was one of the best I have seen with a carpet like surface.

Bishops Cleeve had sent a side that were a mixture of youth, trialit’s and reserves I am lead to believe and looked far stronger early on in there yellow strip.

Cleeve took the lead on 3 minutes, cutting in right of box opening his body up and fired across the keeper. Just one minute later it was 2-0 to Cleeve, a low cross from the right ., deceive everyone except the grateful player at the back post who steered it in with an outstretched leg.

Albion had looked poor up until they sprang into life on 17 minutes, charging down the middle, before sending a confidant strike beyond the keeper. After that things went flat and Leighton set off to find a shop while I made sure nothing was missed.

The second half was pretty poor in comparison to the first , Cleeve started to look quite unfit and Albion looked moreally than a match. On 75 minutes a deserved equaliser, Albion worked down the left before finding space to flick a bobbley effort into the far corner.

After the game, we looked for a pub. We came across a bit of a dive the Victoria inn in Brockworth, we had one drink and left. We then headed to the Cheese Rollers pub in Shurdington,  the name a nod to the local traditional of chasing a cheese down a steep hill. This pub was much better . Bright, modern with a nice garden to.
