Game 28 – Oldbury United 2 Bridgnorth Town Development 0 23/9/2017

Just the one game for me today and it was the basement battle in the West Midlands Division 2. Both sides were winless before the game were on a solitary point each and were looking to get a leg up the table.

This game was at Hingley Field in Cradley and was surprised as it is a decent set up with a small sports centre and a rail around 3 sides and a small covered shelter behind one goal.

As for the game it was a fairly dreadful affair with Bridgnorth particularly poor. Oldbury in the blue showed glimpses of quality and were always the better side but spent more time on the floor than on their feet with a host of reckless challenges. They were ahead though within 3 minutes from a bobbley finish not long after Bridgnorths keeper was forced off injured.

Not much happened until the second half, when Oldbury went down to ten men after handbags broke out,  I’m pretty sure Bridgnorth player had him by the throat but he was given a yellow but Oldbury didn’t let up and hit the bar . Toothless Bridgnorth collapsed though after Oldbury hit the bar and the ball bounced loose to the right of box , United then struck the ball to the far net.

Admission – Free  Attendance – 20
