Two poor sides met at the beeches tonight but only one emerged with credit. The two basement sides of the West Midlands Regional Division One played in driving rain that made play hard. Willenhall in the blue are on a dreadful run with 1 point from 8 games while Wrens Nest have only played 2 games after a member of their squad was murdered a couple of months ago.
It’s a couple of years since my last visit here another not much has changed. It is still quite run down . Admission tonight was £3 and a quid for can of pop. Wrens took the lead on 17 minutes, nodding the ball in from 3 yards after a cross from the left. It was 2-0 on 27 minutes, cutting in from the right and shooting low into the far corner.
The second half was still one way traffic and Wren’s scored again when wrens had a one on one, his shot cannoned off the outrushing keeper and looped in. The final goal came when after a slip, the striker got up and steadied himself side stepping a challenge before rolling home. Sorry about poor pics best I could get.
Admission – £3 Attendance – 35ish
