Caersws came from behind to beat a better Aberaeron side this afternoon. I was in Mid Wales to visit my brother who has recently moved to the area and this club is a ten minute drive away.
Caersws are a former Welsh Premier side now battling relegation in the Huws Gray Alliance and play at the Recreation ground. The visitors for today were Spar League midtablers Aberaeron in the yellow. I was very impressed with the ground, 2 stands on either side. Conifer trees sheep and rolling hills all in the surroundings.
Aberaeron took a shock lead on 12 minutes, heading into the bottom corner. They extended their lead on 23 minutes, firing into the far bottom corner. Caersws came back into things in the second half, Steve Blenkinsop shooting high into the net from 18 yards. They equalized from Blenkinsop finishing with a stooping header from a right wing cross.
Caersws then took the lead Sherbon rounding the keeper and walking the ball in. Aberaeron converted a penalty to make it 3 3. Then a comedy moment at the other end , Caersws were awarded a penalty putting in a woeful penalty that was easily saved, the referee ordered it to be retaken and they spooned it over the bar. We all prayed for a winner to save us from extra time and Caersws got it breaking down the left, sending in a low cross finding Rhydian Davies who slid under the keeper.
