An unusual Thursday night game for me tonight as I witnessed a rather uninspiring friendly between the RAF and Midland League side Coventry United. The temperature was just 2 degrees at the Cosford’s own stadium.
The stadium I presume, is used for the forces training as there is a 8 lane running track. There is a half decent stand but little else to give the place much character. I didn’t venture over to the changing rooms but there is a bar above that wasn’t open tonight.
On Tuesday, the RAF ran out 3 0 winners against Tamworth with 81 I’m attendance, tonight though there was probably about 30. The RAF in the maroon strip, dominated the game and took the lead on 9 minutes shooting across the already diving keeper.
They bossed the second half also, and finally doubled the advantage with a low shot from 8 yards. They also hit the post near the end. Coventry offered and got little nothing and I was glad to get back home and warm up.
Admission – Free Attendance – 30ish
