Game 75 – Paget Rangers 1 Ilkeston Town 4 2/4/2018

Four clinical goals were all that were needed to beat a battling Rangers side. With nearly all local options falling foul to the weather I ended up here again for the umpteenth time, hoping to double up with a new ground at Knypersley on the night, but the latter was postponed.

I had seen the reverse fixture earlier this season when Ilkeston in the white won 6 0 but they didn’t have it all their own way today. Although, it looked like they would after scoring after two minutes, Lavelle-Moore turning to shoot high into the net. They had a goal ruled out before Ben Fairclough rose highest to head home a left wing cross on 36 minutes.

On the stroke of half time it was 3-0, Fairclough again nipping the ball off a dithering Rangers defender and poked the ball in at the near post. Lavelle-Moore got his second with a thumping header, again from another left wing cross. It all fizzled out until Rangers sub Max Brown got a low shot away from 14 yards that trundled into the bottom left corner. Hopefully get some different grounds in shortly, although this ground is handy I’ve seen a lot of it lately with the weather been so bad.

Admission – S/T Attendance – 178
