It’s been probably 5 years since I last saw Worcester City play and how the mighty have fallen. It really saddens me to see what certain people did to this old club. I lived in Worcester for 4 years of my life and still miss living there and enjoyed my times going down to the hallowed turf of St George’s Lane, that is now sadly a housing estate.
The well publicised financial difficulties have meant the club has had to drop down all the way to the Midland League. I was staying local anyway for the National … I bet 8 quid and got £12 back, but I won’t let it change me.
Same as the game I saw this morning this was a poor game, the first half fairly forgettable. A must win game for Worcester in their push for promotion being 4th and Boldmere 14th. Nothing much happened early on, Nick Turton for Worcester perhaps the most dangerous player.
The game came into life, when a lucky flick off Turton’s shoulder sent Joel Ambalu through, after sidestepping a couple of challenges he got a shot away that rolled into the far corner. Boldmere were level when Usher charged down the right and put in a zipping ball across the box for the largely redundant for most of the game Ricardo Reid to bundle in.
