Rushall found Wolves a hard nut to cracking this afternoon. I decided to do a local double but sadly no new ground as I visited here once 3 years ago. The ground is now called Pride park and is on Hazell Lane in Wyrley.
I got there just on kick off and found little has changed at the venue. There was a seated stand behind the goal that I don’t remember from my last visit so perhaps that was new. Wolves were promoted from the West Midlands Regional last season and I was expecting goals.
Rushall in the red pressed from the off but found a combative side in their way. For all the defence and midfield quality they have sadly they were toothless up front. Rushall took the lead on 7 minutes with a low shot.
In the second half, I got caught in a shower but it soon passed and it was 2-0 on 49 minutes from a bending free kick 25 yards out, not greatly struck but deceived everyone including the keeper who watched it harmlessly bounce in. Wolves only real chances was when they forced the keeper into a save before heading towards goal from a corner.
The final goal came from a one on one that was turned home on 85 minutes despite a last ditch challenge.
