After the Wolves game, I headed to the Grove for this fixture verses my brothers near neighbours Newtown. It’s been a while since I visited here but once again nothing has changed, still a good little non league ground.
I was interested to see that Halesowen now have a ex league front line in Lee Hughes and ex wolves Sylvan Ebanks-Blake signing this week and both started today, although the latter seems to have put on a fair bit of weight since is hey day.
Newtown in the red, took the lead on 14 minutes, it came from a corner , Fletcher’s first effort was saved but Ethan Jones managed to bundle in the loose ball. Less than sixty seconds later, Lee Hughes had all the time in the world in a one on one his first effort was saved but his rebound was slipped under the keeper.
There was a downpour that sent everyone running for the stands in the second half, Newtown were nowhere near as aggressive in the second half and they were punished on 73 minutes when a corner was met at the back post by Lewis.
