Rovers came from behind to beat Walsall in a slow burner this morning. I decided to stay local and see this one early on , I believe this is the first time I have ever seen a Rovers side.
I have taken a keen interest in the Rovers since the mid nineties, with Colin Cramb I always looked out for. I also researched the ‘The worst football league side ever’ the Rovers side that were relegated from the football league in 1998 and if you have never seen the documentary they think it’s all rovers I suggest that you do. Another player I followed then was Prince Moncrieffe who I remember seeing in the Shoot magazine as a kid, there top scorer in the dismal season with 8 goals before disappearing and never being heard off again.
So anyway, this was a very slow burner with 60 minutes of nothing despite being played at a fast pace. Walsall in the red took the lead, a cross from the right being slid in. A couple of minutes later, Rovers were level , Myron Gibbons turning and firing low from 10 yards.
There was a couple of brief showers and the temperature dropped before Rovers won the game after being awarded a free kick just outside the area, the ball was laid off and Brandon Horton lashed the ball in low from 20 yards.
