Game 36 – Earlswood Town 0 Bolehall Swifts 1 26/1/19

The swifts won this dreadful basement battle this afternoon. I decided to knock off a ground I have been putting off for a while, Earlswood Town play at the Pavillion, there isn’t to much to it, a railed pitch surrounded by farm land and the Pavilion a wooden block housing their changing rooms and bar area and the smallest urinal area I have seen at a ground.

This game in the Midland league 2 was a basement battle between the bottom two sides and now I know why they are. The weather was cold and as I drove there the heavens opened up but as the game kicked off the rain baited off.

The game itself was pure rubbish but Bolehall in the green appeared to be the better side. The most frustrating bit of their play was the fact that none of their players like to shoot.

Bolehall’s first real chance came when all they had to do was knock the ball beyond the keeper but the player decided to blaze over the bar. Earlswood won a lot of the ball but did nothing with it. Bolehall scored the only goal on 38 minutes, running in from the left knocking the ball into the middle and from 9 yards a bobbly effort wrongfooted the already diving keeper bouncing ,off him into the bottom corner.

I had a chat with local video blogger Brooksy during the game and we both concluded how bad it was, you can check his YouTube page for highlights if your brave enough. The second half was all Bolehall except one moment when Earlswood blazed over from 5 yards when it was easier to score. Not one to live long in the memory.
