After taking my daughter swimming I only had 35 minutes to get somewhere so this game was the closest I could find. A friendly between to Midland league sides. Both sides came bottom of their respective leagues last season, Wolves relegated out of the premier and Tigers bottom of the Division 3, although I am unsure if they were relegated .They played this game at Heartlands Academy, a school in Duddeston a very run down area in the shadow of Birmingham and round the back of where I work. Arriving here it was like fort knox to get in, no visible gate to drive in eventually I pressed a buzzer to walk through and it opened and was directed to the all weather pitch. Here, you watch the game from a balcony above the pitch. I counted 5 spectators as well as myself and Eggyhopper but they all seemed to be involved with the club’s. The game was decent, the first half was a tight affair with Tigers in the orange holding their own but fell behind on 22 minutes, when a ball from the right was controlled and knocked across the keeper into the far net.The second half was much better, Sporting going two up with a wonder goal, chipping the ball up before lofting the ball over the keeper. They then scored another cracking goal , charging down the right , sending in a low ball and a cheeky back side heel had enough to beat the keeper. The tigers were awarded a penalty for something I didn’t see and that was converted to the left bottom corner. The game was rounded off when Sporting controlled the ball on the chest before rifling under the crossbar.
All in all, a fairly decent game. Wasnt to keen on the location or the pitch but it did the job. Ground 216 and also the first time I saw a player saying ‘s prayer in the corner of a pitch
