Sutton came from behind to win in this Bank Holiday game. After finishing work I headed to Continental Star to be told the game was off due to a unsafe pitch, the second time in a few months, apparently due to long grass and rabbit holes, apparently the referee told the players he could be sued if someone hurt themselves.
So I hurried over to Hollyfield Rd, my first visit here since 2014. Little has changed really at the ground since my last visit. Sutton are back in the Midland League after a few years away and have made a decent start. Visitors Shush not so well in the lower reaches of the league.
The bank holiday combined with the sunshine brought out a ‘bumper’ crowd around the railed pitch. As I turned up late, I was told I’d just missed the Shush goal that was apparently slid in.
Sutton in the green, were level on the stroke of half time from the spot, a low strike down in the corner. Sutton added a second in the second half poking home a corner at the near post. Sutton wrapped the game up, by rounding the keeper and firing high into the net.
Glad to get a game in but this was a fairly low key game, it rarely got me majorly interested.
