Game 39 – Wythenshawe Town 3 Abbey Hey 2 7/3/20

After the amateurs game, I battled over to inner city Wythenshawe. The leady suburbia was gone and was now in a very busy industrial estate. Parking was at a premium down this narrow road where I found Ericstan Park. This ground didn’t seem big enough for the amount of people that game with and the paths extremely narrow. Part of the far side was closed off to spectators to meaning people were quite penned in. Ericstan Park does have a small ramshackle seated stand one one side and a small one on the far side as well as a small covered standing area. The game was good though, both sides flying high but Towns keeper Callum Jakolevs had a right mare. Abbey Hey in the red took the lead on 6 minutes, a pass back to him from Jan Palinkas he let slip through and went down as a own goal. Matty Bryan made it 1 1 shooting from the edge of the 6 yards box.Jakolevs was at it again though, as he was nudged as he collected the ball and kicked out at the Abbey Hey player and a penalty was awarded, Grant stepped up and scored. Wythenshawe had a shot blocked but Brad Byrne was there to Bury the ball. The final goal came in controversial circumstances when Liam Myers who looked miles offside rolled the ball home from about 20 yards.Admission – £5
